On Tuesday, the US Supreme Court will hear arguments in the case of a transgender woman who was denied a job at a Texas construction company after she tried to get a gender identity change in a federal court.
A federal appeals court ruled last month that the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) had violated her civil rights when it failed to give her a full sex change request and that the agency had failed to protect her privacy and free speech.
The case has sparked a debate about the rights of transgender people in the US, with advocates calling for more access to justice and for transgender rights to be protected.
The US has long been known as a country where transgender people face discrimination.
In 2016, a study by the National Center for Transgender Equality found that there were 4,907 transgender people killed in the country, compared to 4,374 in 2015.
The majority of those killed were trans people of colour.
The US Justice Department has said it will appeal the court’s ruling.
Transgender rights advocates say there are many reasons for the high death rate, including discrimination and poverty.
It is the second time the US has faced an immigration case over transgender rights.
Last year, a federal judge ruled that the Trump administration’s decision to exclude transgender students from the military was unconstitutional, with the Trump Justice Department arguing that transgender students are not military members.
The president had previously said he would not allow transgender students to serve in the military.
But in the past two years, more and more trans people have taken their case to the courts, and the Trump Administration has come under fire for its policies.
The administration has come out against transgender people having access to healthcare.
President Donald Trump said in August that healthcare should be a right for transgender people, and has called for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
“We will not accept people in our country who do not have access to the medical care they need,” Trump said.
“There are so many issues that are important to people, especially transgender people,” he said.
The Trump administration has also faced criticism for the way in which transgender people are portrayed in media and in the media.
